Our History

Cardinal Clinic was founded in 1979 by Dr and Mrs Morrish with a simple but ambitious purpose: to provide the highest standard of private mental health care in a setting that felt genuinely therapeutic. Over four decades later, that purpose remains unchanged.
The Cardinal Clinic has grown from a small clinic into one of the leading comprehensive mental health services in the UK, offering the full spectrum of care from initial assessment through to long-term recovery. Our team of over 50 consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists are among the most experienced in their fields.
What sets us apart is our unique position within a wider ecosystem of behavioural healthcare. As a joint venture between PROMIS — one of the world's leading addiction treatment centres — and Portobello Behavioural Health, we offer a seamless continuum of care that extends far beyond the walls of the clinic.
